For the past couple weeks, MCND had been touring around America to promote for their latest album titled ‘“THE EARTH: SECRET MISSION Chapter 2.” The young and vibrant rookie group were able to bring the energy at the last stop of their tour in Toronto, Canada. Kpopmap had the privilege of getting to interview the group right before they jumped on stage. Check out the video at the end of this concert review to see what they had to say about their tour. The show started with a bang. With dim lights, the members got into their positions and as soon as the beat dropped for their title track ‘#MOOD,’ the concert was official underway. The atmosphere and audience of The Opera House in the heart of Toronto, Canada was energetic and very engaging. They knew all the words to the first song and you could tell that MCND was going to feed off the energy of the crowd. They continued right into their second song ‘MOVING,’ where they continued to bring the high paced drive and zeal. They were definitely breaking a sweat as their choreography stayed in complete sync. After the first two songs were finished, they introduced themselves in MCND fashion: “Don’t move! Freeze! Hello, we are MCND!” This was followed by personal introductions in which the crowd went wild.

They got back into formation for their third song ‘TOP GANG.’ For this particular song, each member took center stage for their specific parts in the song. It was great to be able to focus on each member, and the red lights in the background brought an intensity to their performance that was entertaining. The next song was ‘REASON’ with BIC taking center stage for his part at the start of the song. They followed up with ‘Bumpin’ from their “Earth Age” album. The group managed to keep their vitality high and audience engaged as fans yelled out the lyrics, waving their glow sticks in the air. Five songs into the concert and the fans were just as energetic as the first song!

After the crowd cheered at the end of ‘Bumpin,’ the group members gathered to talk to the audience. They mentioned how happy and excited they were to be in Toronto, to which the fans loved. It was a short and sweet talk, which segued perfectly into their next song ‘SPRING.’ The back screen with the graphics of colorful cubes was engaging and suited the song perfectly. Their next song was “Breathe” which was a lot more chill compared to the other songs they performed thus far. It was a cute song that brought a different side to the members. The subtle swaying from side to side and small hand motions were endearing to see!

It was time for another chance to talk to their fans in the audience. They said that the energy in Toronto was undeniable, which was totally felt! They all drank water and wiped the sweat that was dripping down their heads. Castle J invited the audience to sing their next song together which was a cover of Post Malone’s ‘I Like You.’ The lyrics of the song were displayed on the back screen and it was a sweet message to their fans. After the cover, MCND ran off stage and a video appeared on screen. It was a pre-recorded song quiz, which involved the group having to guess the title and group of a song just by hearing a second of the melody. The audience was loving this video as they were shouting out the answers and singing along with the members. After the video ended, the MCND members reappeared on stage wearing all white. They sang their songs ‘beautiful’ and ‘Cat Waltz,’ which featured an adorable video on the back screen of a cat holding a pizza and drink. This led to the group singing a more slower and melodic song titled ‘Back to you’ which Castle J said is a love song to their fans. They continued with the slower feeling vibes with ‘Louder’ that gave a more emotional connection with fans.

They went into another time segment of interacting with the audience as they showed off some individual talents. The members each went into the middle of the stage and were put on the spot to perform a short song that is the opposite of their expertise. Castle J, who is the rapper in the group, sang one of Park HyoShin’s slow ballads in which he stated, “I’m nervous” before belting it out. The other members got a kick out of this which was so cute to see! They all got back into the middle to perform their next two songs ‘HEY YOU’ and ‘NANANA.’ It was surprising at this point that they had the energy to continue, but there was never a dull moment! The crowd was thoroughly engaged until the very end. They performed their other songs ‘Galaxy,’ ‘Play Pungak,’ ‘H.B.C,’ ‘ICE AGE,’ ‘JUICE,’ ‘WAT 1,’ and ‘Outro: ㅁㅊㄴㄷ.’ Their performance of ‘H.B.C’ was particularly memorable as they took cellphones from their fans in the audience and recorded videos of themselves. It was interactive and the fans loved it! Everyone wanted the members to take their phones in hopes to having a truly memorable souvenir. ‘Not Over’ was their last song and it was evident that they gave it their all. Maybe it was because it was the last song of their tour, but the group managed to bring in all the energy to the audience. The chant of “encore” echoed through the venue and before we knew it, MCND was back out to perform their last song ‘CRUSH.’ They said good bye to the audience and waved goodbye as they walked off stage. The concert was just over two hours and they managed to keep everyone entertained with games, videos, talks, and energy. It was a concert that was definitely worth the time and you could really tell how hard the group works to make sure they bring it their all in their performances. If you have a chance to check them out in the future, I highly recommend doing so!
